چکیده

On 6 February 2023 (UTC), an earthquake doublet, consisting of the Mw 7.8 Pazarcik and 7.5 Elbistan earthquake, struck south-central Turkey northwestern Syria, which was largest that occurred in since 1939 Erzincan earthquake. The faulting model this estimated based on coseismic InSAR GPS displacements. In addition, best-fitting indicates both were controlled by predominated left-lateral strike-slip motion, with slip peaks 9.7 m 10.8 m, respectively. Coulomb failure stress (CFS) change suggests has a positive effect triggering rupture seismogenic fault Furthermore, these two main shocks promoted occurrence 6.3 strong aftershock. Additionally, it is found Turkey-Syria doublet increased risk Puturge segment EAF northern Dead Sea Fault (DSF). It crucial to note DSF not experienced large several centuries, highlighting need for heightened attention potential seismic hazard segment. Finally, deformation zone adjacent identified, potentially attributed motion blind submarine fault.

Post-seismic motion following the 1997 Manyi (Tibet) earthquake: InSAR observations and modelling

S U M M A R Y On November 8 1997 a M w 7.6 earthquake occurred in the Manyi region of northern Tibet, near the western end of the Kunlun Fault. Over 7 m of left-lateral slip occurred on a 200-kmlong fault. Here we use InSAR observations of post-seismic surface deformation following the Manyi earthquake to investigate possible causal mechanisms. Time-series of deformation are constructed from 26...

Coseismic Deformation and Slip Distribution of the 1997 Mw7.5 Manyi, Tibet, Earthquake from InSAR Measurements

We use interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) observations to investigate the coseismic deformation and slip distribution of the 1997 Mw7.5 Manyi earthquake, a left-lateral strike-slip earthquake occurred on the west portion of the Kunlun fault in the northern Tibet, China. The fault trace is constrained by the combination of interferometric coherence image and azimuth offset image. T...

The characteristics of post-seismic surface deformation of the Wenchuan MS8.0 earthquake from InSAR

Using the D-InSAR technology, we have analyzed the Japanese satellite ALOS/PALSAR data after the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake and obtained four strips of ground deformation spanning about one year, which cover the Yingxiu town, Wenchuan, Shifang, Maoxian county, Beichuan, Pingwu and Qingchuan county in Sichuan Province. Precise interferometric baseline is estimated using ground control points of kn...

Coseismic Deformation from the 1999 Mw 7.1 Hector Mine, California, Earthquake as Inferred from InSAR and GPS Observations

We use interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) and Global Positioning System (GPS) observations to investigate static deformation due to the 1999 Mw 7.1 Hector Mine earthquake, that occurred in the eastern California shear zone. Interferometric decorrelation, phase, and azimuth offset measurements indicate regions of surface and near-surface slip, which we use to constrain the geometry...
